Basically it had a troubled development where no one from the first game was involved, the future director of 3, 4, and 5 was brought in at the tail end of development, and it's a miracle that it even functions like a finished product.Īs for the remasters themselves, they're fine. If you go for the collection then by all means try it and form your own opinion, but I don't recommend going out of your way to spend money and storage space on it. If PC is an option for you there are style switching mods you can use instead.ĭMC2 is just generally agreed upon to be a dull game. It's still a good entry point into the series if you ask me. Even if you end up not liking the first game I think 3 holds up enough to justify the price of the collection. Voice acting still has a few cracks but it's overall good for a 2005 game. Gameplay might feel stiff though.ĭMC3 also has a simple plot but a more interesting cast of characters that reflect and play off each other well. The first game's story is a straightforward revenge plot with a few iconically bad (but still better than PS1 Resident Evil) line deliveries but it has some nice atmosphere with its music and at direction. In every other version of 3 Dante has multiple fighting styles that you can switch between at the start of a level or when you find an upgrade shop statue, but the Switch version allows you to toggle between them on the fly with the D pad like in 4 and 5 and there's also co-op multiplayer in the Bloody Palace arena mode. If you have a Switch you can get DMC1 and an updated version of 3 for the same price as the collection. This includes and is not limited to: memes, comments, discussions, videos.
